20 years have now passed since Past Inside The Present founder Zake (real name Zach Frizzell) recorded his first ambient compositions. In the years that have passed since, he's become one of the American ambient scene's most prolific artists, delivering countless albums of slow-burn beauty and meditative bliss. His latest full-length, Revector, feels like a celebratory anniversary release, even if it technically isn't, featuring as it does contributions from a tight cast of trusted collaborators and sometime PITP label artists. Musically, what's on offer is as enveloping and atmospheric as ever, with processed and layered field recordings providing a base for gentle exploration of leisurely melodic motifs (performed on piano, reeds and other acoustic instruments) and heady, wide-eyed ambient textures.
