American ambient powerhouse zake is back (he never really goes away, to be honest) - the man must spend 36 hours a day making music, the amount he releases, yet it's all great. Hh is a new album that, from the notes that come with it, we think has been inspired by time spent in hospital rooms. "Pieces of my heart, heard through the sounds of HH. For my wife," says the producer, who adds this is his way of processing some personal pain. Across four pieces, his signature synth layers unfold at a glacial pace. They capture the feeling of being suspended in time, some with a more ominous tone than others, but all beautifully pure. They say the best art comes out of adversity, and this is an album that proves it.
