On the 1st of October 2022, more than 20 artists and DJs from Utrecht participated in '900 Minuten' – a dance music celebration by the city's clubs Ekko, De Helling and Basis, of the 900th anniversary of Utrecht acquiring city rights.

We figured this would be a great opportunity to collect some of the best dance music Utrecht has produced in the past 900 years. Because so many artists and great songs had to be left out due to a lack of CD space, this is volume 1.

The well-balanced mix of classic and brand new dance music features internationally renowned artists like Urban Dance Squad, Quazar, Black Sun Empire, C-Mon & Kypski, Bong-Ra, Feiertag, Colin Benders, Pitto and Tinlicker, as well as a host of artists that have earned their spurs in their respective dance music niches.

The result is a pleasantly eclectic double CD, offering two and a half hours of house, hip-hop, metal funk, drum 'n bass, techno, acid, electro, breakcore, easy listening, trip hop, electro pop, ambient techno, downtempo, and chemical beats.

Every track is hand-picked by U-TRAX founder DJ White Delight, whose penchant for the somewhat darker side of dance music (or 'quite deep music', as he likes to call it) is easy to recognize.

One such less obvious selection is 'On S'En Fout' by The Kyteman Orchestra, a dark and quite frankly poorly mixed alternative hip-hop track by the Dutch star musician, also known as Colin Benders. Colin offered a never before released mix for this compilation, which sounds like almost the opposite of the original: bare, tight, intense, and very, very strong.

Former dance-music journalist DJ White Delight wrote some personal notes and background info for each of the 26 tracks, that can be found in the 16 page booklet that is part of this double CD digipack.
