The follow up release to last years Times & Places Volume 1, which sold out in super quick time has the same four artists, each bringing their own style of old skool rave goodness to the table.
Gridzone gets us off and running with beautiful pads and an oh so familiar soothing female vocal sample. But don’t let this fool you, the harsh amens are just round the corner and when they drop, you will know about it.
Midlife Crisis has similar energy levels in their offering, the breaks are more chopped and more in a jungle vein.
On the flip is the highlight of this EP. NewKiller drops a jungle-techno stormer. 4/4 kicks with high speed breaks, hoover sounds and horror film samples. Its like 1993 all over again. Finally the EP ends with a ragga tinged rudeboy of a stepper from Gold Soundz.

Life Support Machine
“After the incredible first volume, Time Tunnel Recordings drops a second VA with first class Hardcore & Jungle
from Gridzone, Midlife Crisis, Newkiller and Gold Soundz.
For those who know there is a subtle allusion to a certain DJ Junk classic on Gridzone’s ‘Why Not?’ The track is a stunning slice of ambient/intelligent Jungle circa 93 with strings that spread out in sublime fashion over crisp breaks and deep subs.
Midlife Crisis keeps up the atmospheric Jungle theme with ‘Choked Beats.’ That rainforest like soundscape is very present from the get go but soon dissipates into a rugged stripped back Jungle flex with well weighted subs and amens.
Things get really fun as we seemingly take a trip back to 1993 on Newkiller’s ‘The Dark.’ The beats, the ominous chords, spooked out samples and chunky beats, the A to Z of classic ‘darkside’ ‘ardcore as fun and cheeky as it always was!!!
Gold Soundz closes the EP with the dancehall inspired shock out of ‘L/C/A.’ The EP finishes with a highly original mixture of early hardcore and jungle with Ragga chants, sound system sirens and scratches. The low key second golden era of rave music continues with this fine addition to the lore!"
