As the wave of celebration builds around the music world icon Haruomi Hosono, a highly anticipated tribute album has been produced with Yasuharu Konishi

as the instigator. The work was born from the long-running regular event "Coffee House Mona Records" at the live house mona records in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, which Konishi has hosted for three years. Artists who have performed at the event gather for this album and each cover Hosono's songs with their individual interpretations and love.

The impetus for this album came when Hosono appeared as a secret guest at the mona records 21st-anniversary event (March 28, 2025).

That historic moment sparked the project to formalize the spirit of the event into a recording.

The relationship between Haruomi Hosono and Yasuharu Konishi dates back to the mid-1980s. In 1984, Hosono and Teichiku (then) established the label "Non-Standard"; the next year, under Hosono's production, Konishi's band Pizzicato Five made their debut single "Audrey Hepburn Complex" (12″) on that label. From then on, the two maintained a deep musical exchange as symbols of Japanese pop culture.

This album features Konishi alongside Wataru Sawabe (Skirt), Masahiro Naoe, Kosuke Kaneda (THE Love Ningen), Naoki Ito, Tetsurō Yafune, INO hidefumi, John & Paul, YOSSY LITTLE NOISE WEAVER and others—each re-constructing Hosono's work with their own sensibility and respect. Konishi contributes both a solo guitar/vocal version of "Furaibou" and a live recording of "Owari no Kisetsu" from the March 2025 live. In addition, the album captures Hosono himself performing solo guitar/vocal versions of "Hong Kong Blues" and "Koi wa Momoiro" (with MC) at the live event, preserving the atmosphere of the venue. Furthermore, the unreleased demo version of Hosono's cover of Franz Liszt's "Liebesträume" is included, making this a must-hear work for fans.

This collection—where the musical world of Haruomi Hosono and the artists who revere him converge—symbolises the long-cultivated power of connection at mona records and becomes a special tribute album that records a new chapter in the history of Japanese pop music.
