Aus Music and fabric Records have linked up for a collaboration with new EP ‘Room 02’ featuring a plethora of underground artists including Syreeta, Huxley, Bella Boo, Otik, Iglew & K-Lone and Will Saul. Set for release on 30th October, the collaborative EP is a celebration of the rich and diverse sounds that have long defined both Aus Music and fabric, bringing together a standout selection of artists from across the underground electronic music landscape.
Aus Music was a quarterly fixture in fabric's Room 2 for more than 15 years, with the residency becoming a vital platform for the label's emerging talent and a testing ground for new sounds across bass, house and garage. Along the way, the series hosted landmark moments, from Joy Orbison's fabric debut to the first ever CLOSE Live show from Aus founder Will Saul. With Saul set to join fabric's Head of Labels Hiroki Beck for an ADE panel exploring the art of the mix series in October, their long-running creative partnership takes another step forward with a new various artists EP.
Six tracks bring together a sharp selection of contemporary tastemakers, delivering heavyweight house, bass and leftfield sounds built for the pressure of Room 2. First up, Syreeta and Huxley deliver 'We Synthesize', pairing chunky grooves and lithe synths with a sultry vocal for heavyweight house pressure. Bella Boo follows with 'Angel', blending jungle breaks, warm synths, zippy melodies and soft acid into a dreamy, euphoric rush. Otik returns with 'Eternal Groove', fusing UK bass, jungle and garage with ethereal breakdowns, cavernous bass and thunderous kicks. Iglew and K-LONE team up on 'Tincture', combining experimental techno and bass with chunky house grooves, neon synths and a psychedelic edge. Will Saul closes with 'The Elms', a deep, driving cut of bass-heavy swagger, aching vocals and increasingly wild, acidic synths.
‘Room 02’ captures the energy, experimentation and enduring spirit of a partnership forged over more than 15 years of Aus Music residencies at fabric’s iconic Room 2. As that long-running residency comes to a close, the EP brings together established names, emerging talent and boundary-pushing production for a fitting snapshot of the sounds that have defined the room, while looking towards where the underground is heading next.
