Come December it’ll have been 24 months since the last “proper” Christmas, there are 24 days in advent, and London based indie record label wiaiwya is now 24 years old, so, what better time could there be for a 24 track album of amazing indie, electronic and powerpop Christmas tunes. Dolour is the name Seattle songwriter Shane Tutmarc gives himself and the ever-changing band of collaborators he surrounds himself with. Imagine the songs Paul McCartney forgot to write in 1967 recorded in a perfect facsimile of the Raspberries in 1972. Brighton, England, jangle pop band the Popguns were formed in 1988 by vocalist Wendy Pickles, guitarists Simon and Greg Dixon, and bassist Pat Walkington before adding former Wedding Present drummer Shaun Charman. Although they emerged during the Brit-pop explosion of the mid-'90s, Spearmint weren't made for the rock star posturing of bands like Oasis, and fit better with the cardigan-wearing bedroom bands of the C-86 mold. Half Brit-pop and half twee pop. The Orchids are a Scottish band that initially achieved success with Sarah Records. Formed in Penilee in Glasgow in 1985, they have since release six albums (with another on the way), and two  compilations. Peter Astor has been recording spectacular records since 1983, under his own name as well as The Loft, The Weather Prophets, The Wisdom of Harry and Ellis Island Sound. Jeff Mellin is a musician, songwriter, and co-founder of both Stereorrific Records and Waxfruit Arts Media, Inc., a non-profit interdisciplinary foundation. Building Rockets is essentially the work of one man, musician and singer-songwriter Sam Heath from Austin, Texas. On this recording he’s gone full-on Beach Boys-meet-surf guitars. The Edible Eyes feature ex-members of The Blanche Hudson Weekend / The Manhattan Love Suicides, and make a glorious lo-fi Suicide sound. The second release from Cecilia Lund is a cover of the under represented Bond theme - Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?. It’s a must for fans of glacial Swedish poptronica. Corvair is a Portland, Oregon-based “super duo” comprised of Brian Naubert (Ruston Mire, Tube Top, Pop Sickle, The Service Providers) and Heather Larimer (Eux Autres). What can you say about PARENTHESIS DOT DOT DOT that hasn't already been said? He creates the best pop music however, that much is certain...
