Having made his Fatsouls Recordings label debut late last year, Trinidadian Deep makes a relatively rapid return to DJ Said's long-serving, San Francisco-based imprint. The three-track 'Deep Rooted Isle' EP sees the popular producer continue serving up soft-touch, densely layered and spiritually-minded deep house delights influenced by Caribbean, Latin and African musical cultures. Check first opener 'NYC Corner', a kind of Joaquiion Joe Clausell-meets-Ron Trent style affair rich in marimba style melodies, organic percussion, jazzy sax solos, bright organ riffs and elongated synth solos. 'Jah Lion' is an ultra-deep and hazy chunk of softly spub dub house-meets-dub techno headiness, while B-side 'Sound of Her' is a masterclass in piano-splashed cosmic deep house colour.
