There's something fitting about a record built around "presence and reflection" landing on what they call Blue Monday (aka the day when post-holidays blues and New Year's longness really kicks in during early January). Live from Camden catches The London Ambient Orchestra improvising, live, at the Jazz Cafe with nothing sketched out beforehand. Strings, winds, harmonium, pedal steel, even breath itself, all folding into one another as the musicians actually listen to each other and interact in the moment. Opening pieces like 'The Colour Green' sit patient and still, while 'Orva II' stretches out to 26 minutes and swells into real intensity before easing back down. Closer 'Camden Suite' hands the material to label founder zake, who reworks it into something adjacent - not a remix exactly, more a second look.
