The young quintet formed in the South German city of Erlangen in 2022 and built up their material through jams and experimentations. They have developed an almost two-hour live set of their own songs which evoke psychedelic rock, folk and an overall vintage fair transported by their warm charisma on stage. Touring all around the Nuremberg metropolitan region, The Citadel have now achieved several festival gigs all over the country while mixing their second studio album, "Dawns on Mental Highways", which will be released in autumn. Their 2024 debut album, "The Foundation Cycle" is now repressed by Subsound Records.

The German newcomer band The Citadel is excited to announce their 2024 debut album "The Foundation Cycle" now being pressed and distributed by Subsound Records. With their roots in the psychedelic and progressive rock scene of the 1960s and 70s, The Citadel recorded their frst complete musical statement in their drummer's studio, self-producing it and providing their own cover art. It is a fully self-made joint effort in transmitting vintage style sounds over new compositions. Blending psychedelic rock with folk and blues elements, narrative lyricism, electronic organ and fowing guitar solos, the result is unpolished, direct music: Melodic, naive, strange, full of groove and atmosphere - take some time to listen in and enjoy!
