These recordings were made at the Star-Club in December 1962, just months before the Beatles achieved international fame with 'Please Please Me.' The tapes document a raw, energetic Beatles performing live in the grimy basement club that helped forge their legendary stage presence and tight musical chemistry and reveal a grittier, more spontaneous version of the Beatles than what would later appear on their polished studio albums.
