Ave Noctum ……the instant this new recording swung into action on opener ‘Yaldabaoth’ the strengths are evident. The melodies and hooks are memorable enough to be well and truly stuck in the head and the recording and ballast behind it all is if anything even greater and more powerful in construct than it originally was. 9/10 Excuse The Blood Where their debut showed great promise, and “Pillar Of Fire” showed growing pains, “Messengers Of Deception” is a band in resilient, fighting form, delivering an album that is both abundant in depth, quality and longevity. It is certainly their most committed and intense work to date and is a high point of a band whose founder has made several distinguished marks on the shaping of its respective genres of influence. Most importantly, this gives hope in an environment where commercial or “accessible” metal has long since been degenerated into subjective, easily digestible scraps from the factory floor of the music business. Sentinel Daily To my mind Messengers of Deception is the biggest sounding record Rob Miller’ s been involved with. It’s got a huge sound. The guitar tone – huge. As an example, Yaldabaoth, the opening song on the record, is for all intents and purposes, just that. A stock standard, punchy, hit-you-hard album opener. But midway through the track it just hits you how immense the sound is. It’s all encompassing, consuming Death Metal Underground Messengers of Deception has the power of the MTV bands, the guts of metal, and the plain self-actualized honesty of punk. Unabashedly catchy with the falling choruses that make audiences swoon, it encrypts its actual message in the change of textures, pointing to a clash between the bright neon public reality of the group and the organic, complex, and unpredictable world within.
