A UK Top 5 album upon original release, For Your Pleasure is the second studio album by Roxy Music. Commercially even more successful than their debut album, it cemented Roxy's position as one of the UK’s most inventive rock bands and is widely seen as both their definitive album and as one of the greatest art-rock/glam-rock albums of all time.
Originally released on 23 March 1973 by Island Records, the album expands on the experimental nature of their self-titled debut, featuring more elaborate production and experimentation. It was their last album to feature synthesiser player Brian Eno.
Bryan Ferry has curated both the music and visual content for this reissue.
Across multiple formats this reissue combines the original album with previously unheard and rare audio and AV material from the time of the album’s release as well as 'Pyjamarama' (b/w 'The Pride And The Pain'), a UK Top Ten hit issued between the debut album and For Your Pleasure. The superdeluxe includes previously unheard home recordings from Bryan Ferry, band rehearsals & studio outtakes, live sessions, singles & instrumentals and TV & 14 live performances from the BBC and German + Swiss TV. All packages feature an essay and unseen photos with the superdeluxe book as the ultimate compendium on the album featuring a 7000-word essay by Damien Love on the making of the album (based on new interviews with band members, producers and the team behind the artwork), a 2500-word essay by Michael Bracewell on the significance of the album and an essay from Nick de Ville on Roxy’s visual world. It also includes many rare and unpublished photographs, original marketing materials (including press materials from original Roxy publicist Simon Puxley), lyrics and work-in-progress lyric notes by Bryan Ferry, tape scans, tour dates, album chronology.
