Ron Allen, the Toronto-based producer, DJ and founder of the iconic Strobe Records, helped shape early 90s house and techno after relocating to the Canadian city in 1988. It was there he signed to Bigshot Records after Andrew Komis aka Komix, heard his demo, which had previously only been played for Derrick May, and instantly recognised his talent. In 1991, Allen and Hayden Andre Brown launched Strobe and the rest, as they say... He's still got the skills decades on with 'Dancefloor Killa' bringing gritty dub tech that reminds of Delano Smith, while the Ronnie dub is more luminous. 'Artificial Extacy' is clean and infused with synth warmth, with distant whistles and FX bringing the beats to life. 'Luv 2 Dance' (Ronnie Revibed mix) is a vibey US garage sound that's easy to love.
