Renato Cohen made his name by playing unique and interesting live performances in his hometown of Sau Paulo, Brazil by taking his whole studio to clubs. He gained residencies as a DJ throughout Sau Paulo in the early 2000's and also branched into new projects showing his diversity and artistic talents. These included remixing music from the film, 'City of God' and also having his music used by brands such as 'Coca Cola' and 'Toshiba'. Pontape was originally released on Carl Cox's Intec label back in 2002 and sold over 50000 copies worldwide. This led to Renato playing at clubs around the world such as Fabric, Womb, Space and I Love techno among many more.

Renato Cohen has remade his Pontape original eleven years on, bringing new life to one of techno's classic records. Beginning with the immediately recognisable droning bass line that has become so synonymous with the release, Cohen introduces a build during the middle section that gives the track a new depth second time around. Alan Fitzpatrick has been selected for remix duties, adding a contemporary twist to this classic track by retaining the original hook-line using the drone in the breaks but adding his own synth-stab
to bring a new and interesting dimension to the track.
