Ilian Tape's ITX Series has been the exclusive home for the recorded output of Polish-born producer MPU101, who lives in Chiemgau, Bavaria, but is yet to reveal any other detail about themselves. The music they make suggests they are an inward-looking character and deep thinker: it is glass-eyed ambient, sad synth for loners, dystopian downtempo but barely a hint of hope for human life. That might sound heavy, but there is real catharsis in the sustained chords of these tracks and the hazy textures around them. Grainy ambience is offset by more shiny swirls that hint at celestial life. It's deeply comforting, impossibly immersive music for bruised souls.
