Egyptian-American Drummer Mitchum Yacoub, once powering the rhythm engine of Seun Kuti's Egypt 80, takes Fela's sacred groove and sends it on a tropical holiday. 'Cumbia No Get Enemy' lifts the bones of 'Water No Get Enemy' and shakes them into a bright cumbia rattle. Horns bark, percussion chatters and the rhythm wriggles along with cheerful mischief. On the flip, 'Zaire' stomps in with heavyweight Afrobeat muscle, tipping its hat to the fabled Zaire '74 festival. The bass sits thick in the gut while the horns jab and the groove struts like James Brown has wandered into Kinshasa with dancing shoes on.
