"Miles Davis' quintet with John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers
and Philly Joe Jones was formed in 1955 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest combos in jazz history. Like its followers Steamin', Workin' and Relaxin', Cookin' is the product of two massively productive recording sessions during May and October of 1956, which ended his obligations with Prestige Records.
