Leading trumpeter and composer, Mark Kavuma, launches his new label, Banger Factory Records with the release of ‘Arashi No Ato’.

“It was something I wrote just before the pandemic and has somewhat become the theme on gigs. Originally it was just “after the storm” but I really loved how it sounds in Japanese,” explains Kavuma. “I thought it to be a fitting title for the album with everything that has been going on over the last year and a half.”

Over the last decade Mark Kavuma has established himself as a key player in London’s rapidly expanding jazz Scene. As leader, he has released two albums, ‘Kavuma’ (2018), voted among the best albums of the year by Downbeat magazine and The Banger Factory (2019), both released on Ubuntu Music.

Firmly rooted in the hard bop tradition, Kavuma infuses this indelible musical movement with the energy, attitude, and swagger of a new generation of creators. Musically, he has a unique and distinctive sound on the trumpet and an assured, finely crafted and personal approach to the instrument.

Kavuma’s main outfit, The Banger Factory, is a collective that is contingent upon bringing the people a good time. From a weekly residency in Brixton’s POW, over the last five years, the band has developed and nourished a truly unmistakable group sound and attracts and features some of the most gifted and engaging musicians on the scene today.
