Deeply rooted in French chanson, Lizzie presents us with intimate songs carried by a voice imbued with a gentle melancholy. It was during her teenage years, whether by chance or by fate, that this musician – a pianist and guitarist who grew up listening to Joan Baez and Barbara – discovered Fado. This revelation enabled her to find her place as a singer whose voice is imbued with saudade. ‘Désert’ is the second album by LIZZIE, a singer-songwriter. It is a story of wandering and doubt, intertwined with a desire to live and to dream. Her songs are deeply emotional and seem to reveal the beauty that lies within our darkest hours. Guitar and piano form the harmonic foundation of this album, whilst the Portuguese guitar and wind instruments enhance the artist’s inner turmoil.
