Curated From Time's latest deep dive into tech-tinged house history takes us back to 1999 and the sole collaboration between California scene stalwart Kenneth Graham and the mysterious DJ Kuya (the artist's sole appearance on wax, fact fans). Originally released by Sunchild Recordings, the four-track EP joins the dot between dub-flecked West Coast deep house, the intergalactic futurism of formative tech-house, and locked-In morning deep house. The pair begin via the ebbing and flowing dub techno style synth motifs, enveloping pads and sturdy deep house beats of 'Westward', before reaching for sun-splashed funk and disco samples and the warming roll of 'Check Its'. 'Shadows' sits somewhere between the two tracks - think funky guitar licks, spacey loops and chunky bottom-end - while 'Words' is a gorgeouys chunk of breakbeat-powered future jazz/deep house fusion.
