JT Donaldson hails from Dallas and has been making the deepest, dustiest house and tech since the mid-90s. In the last few years, he's become a core part of Ben Hixon's Dolfin Records and now returns to drop another classic with this adventurous double 12". All ten tracks are hardware jams with frayed edges that instantly give them a nice aged feel, but the ideas are anything but dated. Things start with a gentle swagger and humid chord work on 'No 1' and then roam through dreamy late-night soundscapes like 'No 3' and slow bumpers like 'No 6' with chords that convey a lasting emotional ache. There's more uplifting feels thanks to scruffy kicks and hopeful keys on 'No 9' and 'No 10' is a hip-wiggling groove embellished with deft but meaningful chords and hooky little melodic details. A gorgeous collection.
