‘Paris Acid Ball’ was originally produced by Hannah Holland in 2010 while living in Berlin. It captures an energy shaped by countless weekends at Panorama Bar and summers immersed in, and playing at, NYC Downlow. Glastonbury's legendary underground club.

A love letter to Jennie Livingston's landmark documentary Paris Is Burning, introduced to Hannah by East London's iconic drag performer and cultural force Jonny Woo, the track pays tribute to ballroom culture, queer nightlife and the dance floors that connect them. We're delighted to finally give this early slice of the Batty Bass catalogue the vinyl release it deserves as part of the label's relaunch.

As DJs began championing ‘Paris Acid Ball’ across London's underground, it found its way into the record bags of Will Automagic and Nita Aviance in New York. At the time, Nita was already a defining figure in New York's nightlife and the legendary House of Aviance, while Will was deeply embedded in the city's club culture through his work with David Mancuso, The Loft and a string of iconic downtown residencies. Conversations online soon followed, leading Nita and Will to send Hannah the very first demo from their new project, The Carry Nation: ‘This Bitch Is Alive’, featuring Viva Ruiz.

That exchange marked the beginning of an enduring friendship between three artists deeply rooted in their respective club communities. Sixteen years on, they've shared countless nights in London, Glastonbury, New York and Berlin, remixed one another's work, released music across each other's labels, and continued to champion the queer dance floor on both sides of the Atlantic.
