GIDEON's HOMO-CENTRIC RECORDS continues to go from strength to strength with its third EP, the soon to be dancefoor classic Brighter Day featuring Tobirus Mozelle and Tasty Lopez.

Launched in September 2022 with the Ritmo EP and an homage to Detroit powerhouse Aaron Carl

The imprint, founded primarily to amplify the queer DNA at the heart of house, features like-minded artists whose approach to deep house aligns with GIDEON's well-respected underground musical aesthetic.

Brighter Day is GIDEON's response and reply to Cajmere's original house classic Brighter Days feat Dajae. This new track is a love letter to the hope and optimism of those early days of house. A postcard from the dark and complex times of today's dancefoors.

On top of the hypnotic organ motif, the lyrics decry the populist hijack of our global democracies, climate change at the hands of big business and the tech powered globalised capitalism that defnes our era. These realities rose-tint the naive optimism of the 90s house sound that Gideon fell in love with back then. Brighter Day gently reconsiders this nostalgia and sends back a worthy response.

GIDEON writes: "I originally penned this track for Tobirus Mozelle, an amazing queer artist from West coast US who's featured on a few of excellent releases from the likes of Mark Farina and Homero Espinosa. However, whilst jamming at Tasty Lopez's studio in North London it became apparent that her voice could form an amazing counterpoint to the male voice, and we recorded some serious takes in a single session. I eventually ended up with too many verses that were hot shit, so the vinyl release version of the track is a 10-minute Odyssey taking up the complete side A of the EP."
