The identity of the producer behind Craven Faults is still a closely guarded secret, but there are rumblings of live performances to come.
Erratics & Unconformities hit the heights of number 16 in the Official UK Independent Chart, and number 2 in the Indie Breakers Chart back in January 2020
It also had an excellent showing in retailers’ end of year lists, with Norman making Erratics & Unconformities their Album of the Year, plus inclusions from Resident (#7), South (#11), Bear Tree (#13), Pie & Vinyl (Top 25), Piccadilly (#42), Love Record Stores (#52) and Stranger Than Paradise
Standers is the second full-length album by Craven Faults. It follows a trilogy of long sold out EPs, 2020’s Erratics & Unconformities LP, the Enclosures mini-album and a series of studio performances entitled Live Works.
Meticulously curated, each release moves the Craven Faults story forward. Each one a self-contained analogue electronic journey across northern Britain, viewed through the lens of a century in popular music. Studios, venues and movements. Technology and ingenuity. Vibrations. Lines drawn to connect those moments of inspiration.
On Standers, there’s a sonic shift. A new palette to paint from and further refinement of the craft. We’re no longer exclusively travelling overland. Familiar landscapes are viewed from a different perspective. There’s a growing obsession in how this island came to look the way it does, and how its ancient and modern history affects its current population. Landscapes shaped by the elements, and then by countless conquerors and settlers. Livestock and machinery. Money, religion and politics.

On Enclosures:
“Rumours still abound about the identity of its creator, but who cares when the end results are as mesmeric and seductive as this?” 4/5 Mojo
“Three epics of electronic minimalism, imagining journeys across post-industrial Northern England” Resident Advisor
On Erratics & Unconformities:
“If Krautrock felt like a reaction to Germany’s totalitarian past, a new chapter defined by freaky optimism and a race to the margins, Craven Faults also feels like a historical reckoning of sorts: a cold elegy to Britain’s industrial heyday” 8/10 Uncut - Lead review
“Often feeling less like the work of human hands than sounds breathed out by the moors around their Yorkshire home, the drones have an almost geological weight and pace” 9/10 DJ Magazine
“Immersive works that have been assembled by a painstaking master of his craft” 9/10 Long Live Vinyl
“Floating somewhere between ’60s visions of dystopian future, and an increasingly dystopian present” The Vinyl Factory
