CC:DISCO! returns to Phantasy with a new EP, ‘Prize Winning Horse’, available now as a limited-edition 12”, limited to just 300 copies, in a full colour sleeve accompanied by a printed inner, while stocks last.

A constant presence on international dancefloors in the three years since her first appearance on Erol Alkan’s prolific London label, the blissful, balearic Confidence Man collaboration ‘Chez Moi’, this five-track EP finds CC emboldened by close collaboration with some of nightlife’s true outsiders, celebrating the queer, leftfield of house, disco, Italo and cosmic pop.

‘Just 4 You’ feat. Jennifer Loveless posits the fellow Australian artist’s entrancing vocals as a guide through a shimmering arrangement of elements, combining to glisten with romance, sensuality and the potential of a dancefloor pressurised with passion. Acid trance and pillowy breakbeats combine to nudge an ambient undercurrent into loved-up orbit, while Loveless’s intimate assurances just about keep feet on the ground; Only you, just for you.

Enigmatic vocalist CD makes an impression for ‘On Dust’, which finds CC dropping the energy to a lower tempo, turning out an assured groove imbued with the spirit of late nineties electronica, when delicious club remixes lurked on the B-sides of CD pop singles. ‘Prize Winning Horse’ delves into more subcultural territory, riding a rubbery EBM-influenced rhythm toward a westward melody and sensory overload, seeking the pleasures promised by debuting guest Alda, defiantly striding out of the strobes with money in her pocket…

‘Thunder From Down Under’ references CC’s Antipodean origins by way of a legendary male strip group, delivering a heavy-hitting slab of club hypnosis that interweaves the voices of two multi-disciplinary London talents; MC and singer P Nut, known for her previous collaboration with System Olympia, alongside New Delhi-born singer-songwriter, author and composer, Shivani Sen. A sprawling jam produced across borders, their primal demands are nonetheless more than universal; “Your hips, your thighs… Gonna work your body.”
