Cari Lekebusch's reissued Output 1 time travels back to the raw, exploratory spirit of early Swedish techno. Originally released on Hybrid Productions in 1993, these three tracks began life on a Roland TR-808, TR-707 and TB-303, before several years of "wonky recordings" brought them to vinyl. The result captures a still revered producer finding his sound through classic machines, plenty of experimentation and sheer persistence. Lekebusch's lasting place in techno was established with these tunes, which still do everything right, from the loopy acid of the opener to the more zippy 303 energy and roughshod drums of '7007' and on to the skittish, restless, dissociative closer 'Output'. Proper techno by a proper legend.
