Toronto-based Anthene aka Brad Deschamps's latest full-length feels as considered as its sumptuous packaging. On 'Perennials', he shapes expansive ambient forms from guitar, sampler and pedals, tracing emotional cycles that mirror the seasons. 'Winter Chords' sets a hushed tone, its overlapping phrases suspended in pale light, while 'Shades of Night' and 'Drifts and Debris' deepen the sense of motion and tide. The title track unfolds patiently and is suggestive of thawing and renewal. Closing piece 'Try To Be More Realistic' glows with treated resonance and leaves a soft, lingering hush.
