This repertoire enabled them to perform in many different settings – jazz clubs, strip clubs, folk clubs, working men’s clubs, church dances, rock’n’roll joints. Music had to be tailored to the occasion and the Beatles’ great enthusiasm for popular music of all kinds enabled them to do this. Before naming themselves the Beatles in the summer of 1960, they were the Quarrymen. This 8CD set brings together the 100 or so songs John, George and Paul are documented as having performed along with a few of their teenage party pieces with which they would entertain family and friends. This set also includes a further 120 songs that were introduced into the newly-named Beatles’ repertoire, this during the period when they were a five-piece band with Pete Best on drums and Stuart Sutcliffe on bass. 48 page booklet with full discographical information on UK release dates, cat numbers and when each song was recorded live by the Beatles.
