Chrome is probably best known as member of the mighty Def Tex but his ever-growing list of solo releases eclipses many artists. His current project Chrome+ features live instruments replacing some of the sampled elements to provide not only more flexible creativity but also much more interesting live shows. Before you worry about it being too acid jazz instead of Hip Hop fear not – the sampled drum breaks still provide the solid footing to the grooves and if you’re not concentrating on live instruments still has the syncopated feel that a drummer in a live band, while being more interesting, often fails to achieve for Hip Hop purists.

Main track ‘Popcorn’ was produced by Djar One who’s original track was reworked with live bass by Tom Hanah and guitar by Phil Critten replacing a few sampled parts and then co-produced by Super JB who also handles turntable duties.

The B-side ‘Pieces Will Align’ produced by Stevie Ebola is exclusive to this release and does not appear on the forthcoming Chrome+ album. This is a heavier production but by no means any less dope – just at more of a regular pace so you can catch your breath after the A-side hits you.

Pressed on black vinyl dinked (large hole) 7” vinyl and as with all AE Productions releases this one comes supplied in full colour card sleeve designed by Leon Nockolds.
