Why a cinema concert? The music is part of the success of the licence and fans have a particular attachment to the credits and the original soundtracks. The originality of the music by Toshio Masuda, the composer of Naruto, comes from the clever mix of traditional Japanese instruments, such as the Shakuhachi or the Shamisen, with guitar and other pop\/rock instruments. So we came up with the idea of bringing this music to the stage with a 50-strong orchestra, accompanied by an original montage of the best moments from the anime. This orchestra is made up of three parts: symphonic instruments, pop\/rock instruments and traditional instruments.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo do this, we approached the ODINO orchestra and its conductor Sylvain Audinovski. The ODINO orchestra is one of those capable of mixing musical styles while maintaining a very high level of performance. We have also chosen traditional Japanese instrumentalists to complete the orchestra's core, especially for the show.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe arrangements and musical direction are the fruit of a collaboration between Quentin Benayoun, Sébastien Caviggia and myself. My two accomplices, with whom I formed the group P.U.S.S. in 2007, have a great mastery of rock and orchestral music writing. This mix is essential to keep the promise made to the fans of the series and required several months' work to select the music and write the scores for the whole orchestra.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHow do you tell the story of Naruto to fans, but also to those who don't know the anime? That's the real challenge of this unique film-concert. How do you select the best moments in the story of this young ninja apprentice from the vastness of the first 220 episodes? Reflecting this friction, the track juxtaposes a silky and sophisticated R\u0026amp;B sound, with loosely, or even drunkenly, played take on rebetiko, a traditional Greek music associated with the poorest of city dwellers, played on a\u003cbr\u003elong-necked Greek lute known as a bouzouki.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs each track develops, new layers are revealed, inviting the listener to delve deeper. The effect is intentional. As Itamar says, “there is this kind of music that hooks you in a different way every time you hear it, different places in the songs lighting up in different colors, like slowly revealed layers. In our (Eje Eje) case, it is just such a hazed blend. Alongside legends like The Wedding Present and Immersion (Colin Newman and Malka Spigel), it also features exciting performances by rising stars such as Hutch, ĠENN and Welly. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGoo Records founders Tony Bartholomew and Dorian Rogers were inspired to pull the album together by what they were seeing in the live music scene in Brighton. It’s been a real joy to watch such a diverse range of bands growing and thriving around the city – many of them close friends with each other or even playing in each other’s bands. She is also Chair of Music Venues Alliance (MVA) Brighton and explains how, despite Brighton’s thriving live scene being made up of a number of grassroots venues, there are still many challenges they face:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“We still have lots of problems to deal with. Money is always tight and bills keep going up and up. Housing developments and the potential for noise complaints are an ever present threat as the recent Planning application next door to The Prince Albert and another application opposite The Hope \u0026amp; Ruin, Rossi Bar and Folklore Rooms have shown.”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMVT is a crucial resource in helping venues understand how to best fight these issues. They offer invaluable help, including advice on Planning and how to navigate the complex system, to writing letters to MPs and helping with campaigns. She adds:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“We have even formed our own alliance, MVA Brighton, which has given us a much louder voice locally and provided us with a unified response to rally our supporters in joining us in speaking up for GMVs.
