There are touches of JJ Cale's analogue Americana, the swampy groove of Tony Joe White and Richard Thompson's sinewy, modal guitar work. Amps hum in the warm afternoon sun, kids and dogs snooze on the grass and broken drum machines keep time with the universe…Open sky/scorched earth improvisations recorded to four track tape during the rare moments of solitude afforded by lockdown and early fatherhood. Bobby Lee’s “worn-denim psych-country” remains, but the ancestral spirits of Ashra, Popol Vuh and Terry Riley are present here too. Time and technological limitations have been embraced. A song dreamt up, tracked and mixed in an afternoon, never to be tampered with again. Imperfections allowed to stand; knowing that nothing is ever truly finished. The bandleader at Kashmere High School, Conrad Johnson, transformed a bunch of rough-hewn Houston high schoolers into a band that could compete with any in the nation – professional, or otherwise. Forget high school bands, we're talking about sixteen year old kids who would give the JBs a run for their money! Contained within these eight feral exorcisms is a merciless assault of Stoogian/stygian riffage, gloriously purgatorial abjection and intimidating aggro that takes a garage-rock blueprint and grinds its face in the dirt.If these grimy dirges and salvos of horror have a precedent, it’s in the menacing audial lineage that connects Fun House through the AmRep label, Brainbombs and

Drunk In Hell - the process where relentless negativity is alchemically transformed into profane primal salvation. Yet The Shits worship no heroes, obeying a thanatotic urge that sees no separation between death and glory.Listen to this album and you will believe once again in catharsis by way of heavy amplification. Psych-rock is dead, and The Shits are the executioners. Assume the position.

Tracklisting:
01. In My Hotel Room
02. Waiting
03. The method of reinventing oneself anew in the face of adversity. Recovery Position marks this process for Gum Takes Tooth - a time when this ever-shifting and morphing entity sheds its skin once again, revealing a formidable new form.

Marrying an unflinching beat-driven assault to a questing and transformative vision, Recovery Position - their fourth album - may represent a clean slate for Gum Takes Tooth, yet it’s also driven by the same interpersonal and musical chemistry of its creators, Jussi Brightmore and Tom Fug. Recalibrating their enmeshing of drums and electronics. they’ve landed on a propulsive binary-driven delivery that stubbornly eschews genre constraints and modes of comparison.

The fresh approach began when the band began experimenting live, channeling the sparks from jam-driven spontaneity whilst also moving away from rock dynamics in favour of a more kaleidoscopic meld of ideas. Nonetheless, Recovery Position maintains a clear affinity for the pulse-raising effect of the red dB meter or the rattle and rumble of a bass bin under duress. Thus was birthed the mutant quasi-trap protest music of opener ‘Armistice’, the industrial hyperpop aerobics of ‘Small Arms’ and the sci-fi hands-in-the-air rave banger ‘Octavian Eclipse’ alike.

Recovery Position was not without its travails in the making, with the band’s personal challenges and reinventions being somewhat more pronounced than those of their actual music - Jussi and Tom have traversed a full-scale emigration from the UK (in the case of Brightmore) along with battling serious illness, personal revelations and the attendant shockwaves and challenges of the Covid era.. Yet with the assistance of Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse studios in London, the duo have alchemically transcended their circumstances, channeling the personal and political into salvation by way of frequency overload and raw catharsis, a reanimated howl of the human regaining control over the machine.

True to form for this always quixotic outfit, what’s emerged from the cocoon of the difficult last four years is their most singular and potent work to date - simultaneously the their most pop-adjacent and their most extreme. The popular and widely praised Arrival is a highlight in both our and the band´s catalogue, but this epic triple album ups the ante. While following in the great tradition of ensembles led by the likes of Carla Bley, George Russell and Keith Tippett, Echoes is firmly placed in 2022 and takes in elements of rock, jazz, folk, electronic, classical and contemporary music. Starting out with the working title Big Bang, the near two-hour piece had its concert premiere at Stockholm Jazz Festival in October to rapturous applause from a full house, with major national newspaper Dagens Nyheter calling it a feast for eyes and ears in their ecstatic review. The core elements of Echoes are the seven self-titled parts, each mostly over 10 minutes in duration, interspersed with shorter pieces where we find a string quartet, an “African” stretch and generally music of an exploratory and experimental nature. Considering the size of the orchestra and the somewhat intimidating working title, this is a very open, breathing, organic, detailed and dynamic recording with a lot of space. As previously, a defining base element in the music is the repetitive and hypnotic grooves from the main rhythm section of bassist Johan Berthling and drummer Andreas Werliin. Needless to say, the hand-picked musicians are all on a very high level and on top of their game, conducted by Mats Gustafsson but given free reign when it´s called for. And Jim O´Rourke was given free reign when it came to the selections and the mix and is a big part in how the final album turned out. The album closes with a vigorous tribute from Joe McPhee to one of the late, great masters, McPhee being a pretty decent finger wiggler himself, to say the least. Edition of 500. Cindy don't do many things loudly, but their seemingly sudden emergence a few years back was quite the jolt, their Free Advice LP doing for the current San Fran scene what the Big Supermarket record did for Melbourne a year or two back - ie a totemic outta-nowhere DIY statement of rare vision. As it turns out, though, it's not quite without precedent, since there was actually a self-released debut record from 2018, first pressed in tiny number and initially not moving much further than their immediate locale. A few years on and now trading for inflated prices on the second hand market, Tough Love are re-issuing in order to shine a little light on the band's first steps. These ten tracks display the ruminative formation of the minimal indiepop sound perfected on Free Advice, skeletons of the same ideas with a little less flesh on dem bones, nonetheless struck with a naive wonder, like you're afforded the opportunity to hear the band stumbling upon their own charms in real time. And that is 100% the appropriate word here - charm, a quality perfectly captured in that front cover, too. It's not possible to overstate how endearing this music is, so independent is it of outside influence and free of self-consciousness. Is this the birth of the new Paisley Underground? Kingston-upon-Hull’s The Black Delta Movement return with their stunning new album ‘Recovery Effects’ – 8 tracks of immersive, groove-heavy garage rock released April 21st 2023 on Fuzz Club Records. Determination and a commitment to musical development are writ large across Matt Burr’s personal and artistic journey as the main creative force behind The Black Delta Movement. His most collaborative work yet, ‘Recovery Effects’ sees Matt recruiting highly lauded UK guitar-slinger and Little Barrie frontman Barrie Cadogan and bandmates Lewis Wharton (Bass) and Tony Coote (Drums) to provide musical backing on the album. With legendary producer, The Heliocentrics’ co-founder and drummer extraordinaire Malcolm Catto also helming production duties. “The album’s a love letter to the band and all the emotions that come with it,” explains Matt when talking about the period of adversity that led to its creation. Finding himself without his former bandmates following the release of their highly-praised 2018 debut ‘Preservation’ and that record’s subsequent live shows, the pandemic-induced lockdown periods throughout ’20 and ’21 initially gave time for reflection before proving to be a time of productivity. Giving Matt the breathing space to fine-tune the new songs alongside Cadogan before hitting the ground running when entering the studio in late 2021 – the band cutting the basic tracks live and Malcolm Catto providing invaluable input when it came to moulding the music you hear contained throughout. The results of this creative melting pot of such talented and seasoned musicians see The Black Delta Movement delivering that ring thing: a layered, honest and deeply entertaining rock’n’roll record. There are a myriad of moods and textures, whether on the garage-blues grooves of opener and first single ‘Fourth Pass Over The Graveyard’, follow-up single ‘Zip-Tie’ which explodes from its moody intro into punk-rock motorik, or the psychedelic slow-burn of ‘Hiding In The Tall Grass’ which manages to channel the likes of The Doors and Spacemen 3 over its 9 hypnotic minutes.

Track List: 1) Fourth Pass Over The Graveyard 2) Zip-Tie 3) Always Home 4) No Road To Go 5) Hiding In The Tall Grass 6) Photograph 7) Recovery Effects 8) Sleeping Pill

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0130/8714/6043/products/BlackDeltaMovement-RecoveryEffects.jpg?v=1678114497
shadowgraphs-shadowgraphs-cd
Shadowgraphs - Shadowgraphs [CD]

Format: CD
Catalogue No.: DE029CD
Barcode: 0196852375820
Release Date: 14 Apr 2023
Genre: Indie/Alternative

CD Packaging: Digipak. Shadowgraphs is the new self-titled album from the Portland, Oregon based band. Representing a turning point, the album was created in the spirit of true collaboration. Written and recorded in the shadow of the global pandemic and the social justice movements that sprung up in its wake, the album finds the band grappling with the changing world and their place in it. Equally inspired by classic psychedelic pop and modern indie rock, the new album finds the band branching out and incorporating shoegaze, post-punk, and dream pop influences into their sound. Eric D. Johnson rarely lingers at one location too long. As a kid growing up in the Midwest, Johnson's family moved around a lot, but it wasn't until he became a touring musician years later that motion became a central part of his identity. That transient lifestyle stoked an enduring reverence for the world he watched pass by through a van window. A sense of place is a unifying theme he's revisited with Fruit Bats throughout its many lives. From the project's origins in the late '90s as a vehicle for Johnson's lo-fi tinkering to the more sonically ambitious work of recent years, Fruit Bats has often showcased love songs where people and locations meld into one. It's a loose song structure that navigates what he calls "the geography of the heart." "The songs exist in a world that you can sort of travel from one to another," says Johnson. "There are roads and rivers between these songs." Those pathways extend straight through the newest Fruit Bats album, aptly titled A River Running to Your Heart. Self-produced by Johnson—a first for Fruit Bats—with Jeremy Harris at Panoramic House just north of San Francisco, it's Fruit Bats' tenth full-length release and one that finds the project in the middle of a creative resurgence. After two decades of making music, hard-earned emotional maturity has seeped into Johnson's songs, resulting in a more complex sound that's connected with audiences like no other previous version of Fruit Bats. A River Running to Your Heart represents the fullest realization of that creative vision to date. It's a sonically diverse effort that largely explores the importance of what it means to be home, both physically and spiritually. And while that might seem like a peculiar focus for an artist who's constantly in motion, for Fruit Bats, home can take many forms—from the obvious to the obscure. Lead single "Rushin' River Valley" is a self-propelled love song written about Johnson's wife that clings to the borrowed imagery of the place where she grew up in northern California. Then, there's the gentle and unfussy acoustic ballad "We Used to Live Here," which looks back to a time of youthful promise and cheap rent. But the wistful "It All Comes Back" is perhaps the most stunning and surprising track on the album, Johnson's production skills on full display. Built upon intricate layers of synths, keyboards, and guitars, it's a pitch-perfect blend of tone and lyricism that taps into our shared apprehensions and hopes for a post-pandemic life. "We lost some time / But we can make it back / Let's take it easy on ourselves, okay?" sings a world-weary but ultimately reassuring Johnson in the song's opening lines. It's the kind of performance that makes you hope Fruit Bats stays in this one place, at least for a little while longer. With Mimes of Wine, her main project until recently, she has written and published three full-length records (Apocalypse sets in - Midfinger Records/Warner Chappell, 2009, Memories for the unseen - Urtovox Records, 2012 and La maison verte - Urtovox Records - ITA/Accidental Muzik - US, 2016), receiving high praise from the music press (Rolling Stone, Blow Up, Il Mucchio) and collaborating closely with her band both in the studio and in live performance. Laura has lived in Los Angeles and then in New York, and both cities, together with Italy, have created a superimposition of influences that have led her writing to develop in a personal direction. From more abstract and classically infused atmospheres, she has gradually moved towards a kind of increased simplicity and rawness, complemented by an ongoing research in her sound palette, currently based on organs as opposed to the acoustic piano she started writing on. Her music is variegated and enriched by an array of acoustic and electric elements (among which drones, nyckelharpa, harmonium), a series of darker ballads sometimes far from song form but invariably led by her rare and striking voice, a compelling force across all the landscapes through which it moves. At present, Laura has just finished producing a fourth album, Vever, written in New York between 2018 and 2020, and featuring the collaboration of a series of musicians among whom Josh Werner (Marc Ribot, Coco Rosie), Otto Hauser (Espers, Vashti Bunyan), Anni Rossi and Janis Brenner (Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble). The record will be released by GOD UNKNOWN RECORDS on the 14th April 2023. Over the years, Laura has also collaborated with various other artists, including songwriter Jaye Bartell, producer Adam Moseley and band Giardini di Mirò. She has also been active in film music, contributing to the soundtracks of a number of films and documentaries. Includes three rare digital bonus tracks. In 1985, Australian musical iconoclast David Chesworth joined forces with friends Philip Jackson and Warwick Bone to form Whadya Want. Their sole album Skippy Knows is a quintessential mid 80s artefact, melding elements of post-punk, art pop and club-facing dance music. Now a coveted collectors item, at first it seemed to disappear almost without trace. David's background in celebrated Melbourne group Essendon Airport had already seen him explore funk and hypnotic rhythm on their 1981 album Palimpsest (since reissued by Chapter alongside David's early solo albums). Philip also created compelling electronic post-punk in bands Equal Local and Whirlywirld, while Warwick was a mysterious studio maverick. The songs came from a performance David gave in 1983 at the Paris Autumn Festival, whose Australian focus that year saw a host of antipodean artists invited to perform internationally for the first time. David wrote a suite of songs commenting on the archetypes and stereotypes of Australian culture, then going through a brief vogue with the success of Men At Work, Bowie's "Let's Dance" video and Crocodile Dundee. David performed to backing tapes and slide projections showing clichéd images of Australia – kangaroos, platypuses, pristine beaches – with cryptic messages superimposed. Back in Melbourne, David decided to document this project with help from Philip and Warwick, who had access to a high-tech studio featuring a Fairlight CMI and the then-new Yamaha DX7. They recorded late at night and roped in friends such as ex-Essendon Airport pals Robert Goodge and Ian Cox (both playing in I'm Talking by this point), Mick Hauser (Equal Local), Michael Sheridan (Max Q), Paul Schütze (Laughing Hands) and Bill McDonald (Paul Kelly). The result is a kinetic, oddly moving collection of eccentric dance pop, at times propulsive, at times introspective, captured with a high-sheen studio gloss that few art-minded Australian musicians could afford at the time. This first ever reissue comes with three digital-only bonus tracks (including irresistible single B-side Involved With You) plus liner notes from David and original slides from his 1983 performance. Alternating rhymes in Luganda, Luo, Kiswahili and English, her conscious, poetic and experimental style was slow to creep into Uganda's mainstream. Following a brief but necessary hiatus, she returned to the stage in 2018 with a new lease of life accepting her role as a central component of the Nyege Nyege/Hakuna Kulala family. "Yallah Beibe" is the fiery follow-up to Yallah and Berlin-based producer Debmaster's acclaimed 2019 debut "Kubali". After her tour plans were cut short as COVID-19 broke out in 2020, Yallah returned to Kampala and started work on her sophomore album at Nyege Nyege's villa. The process was more complicated this time around, developing pointedly from an initial back-and-forth with Debmaster and flourishing as beats appeared from Japanese producer Scotch Rolex and Congolese club maestro Chrisman. The finished aloum is an international patchwork of futuristic cyber-rap experiments fastened together by Yallah's unforgettable personality and elastic flow. More charged than its predecessor, "Yallah Beibe" is an apt soundtrack to a challenging era. Yallah is an experienced and versatile MC and channels her layered understanding of the complicated global cultural landscape into 12 stories that skate through trap, dancehall, club and industrial styles. Her authoritative guiding force is never more evident than on 'No One Seems To Bother), a collaboration with Duma's gravel-voiced singer Lord Spikeheart. Trading bars over Debmaster's slippery, bass-heavy rhythm, Yallah and Spikeheart ink an alternative East African sonic landscape, with activated lyrics ("the world is going under, no-one seems to bother") and rasping, death metal-inspired groans. "Yallah Beibe" is a call to action, a loud siren that's intended to educate the wider world of East Africa's shrouded history and bright future. Yallah's collaboration with rising star Rati Gan 'Bigbung Song is the best evidence of this, looping Rati's Afro-Caribbean dancefloor flex and Yallah's politicized flow around a twisted bass-heavy beat from Chrisman, joining hands between the DRC, Uganda and the wider diaspora. Tracks like 'Baliwa' and the anthemic 'HERA' meanwhile completely center Yallah's signature lyrical dexterity, playing her tongue twisting raps against Scotch Rolex's pan-global foley-trap splatter. At times, the sounds feel as if they're from their own planet entirely - a fourth world that's rooted in collaboration 7 rather than appropriation. If "Kubali" re-established Yallah as a force to be reckoned with, "Yallah Beibe" cements her status as one of the world's most exciting MCs, both on record and on the stage. He worked with all the greats of early British R&B: Alexis Korner, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, Davey Graham, Cyril Davies, before becoming a frontman himself. Over 46 fine sounding tracks – mostly recorded for BBC radio – we explore the broadcast material of the first groups led by Baldry; the R&B / Soul review that was Steampacket, where he shared vocal duties with Rod Stewart and Julie Driscoll and the Jazz ‘n‘ Blues of the Hoochie Coochie Men and Bluesology (featuring Elton John on piano). Since the formation of Black Artists’ Group in 1968, the home of this multidisciplinary arts collective had been St Louis, Missouri, the city where the Bowie brothers had grown up. It was there that Lester Bowie had started to investigate the expanding horizons of jazz before moving, in 1966, to Chicago where he joined the recently established Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). His close friend Oliver Lake visited Bowie, attended AACM concerts and meetings and was inspired not only by their artistic vision and integrity but also by their efficient organisation. In Chicago musicians were making things happen for themselves, taking control of their own destinies and giving shape to their lives as creative artists. In Paris, Aries 1973 reveals BAG’s musical affinities with the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Both groups preserved an independently minded approach to the notion of free jazz and a carefully filtered awareness of pan-African musical practices, while their creative interest in space, mobile structure, chance occurrences and simultaneity also suggests parallels with the concerns of leading experimental composers working at that time. These performances in Paris of Shaw’s “Something to Play On” and Lake’s “Re-Cre-A-Tion,” plus two collective compositions/improvisations, display the dedication to structural fluency and sensitivity to coloration that accompanied BAG’s unorthodox group dynamics and their unconventional instrumental combinations. In this case the musicians embrace congas, log drums, marimbas, woodblocks, cowbells and gongs. This is not a showcase for solos, but a shape-shifting and multi-centred statement of togetherness, quest and discovery. Removed from BAG’s original multidisciplinary context the music still exudes an exhilarating spirit of collaborative exploration and shared excitement. - Julian Cowley

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0130/8714/6043/products/1_87a1e8bd-ae62-42cd-80ed-6554aab25fa0.jpg?v=1678124199
bloody-bath-burning-a-dream
Bloody/Bath – ‘Burning’ / ‘A Dream’

Format: 7" Vinyl
Catalogue No.: KOOKY202
Barcode: 5024545993370
Release Date: 14 Apr 2023
Genre: Indie/Alternative

Championed by Iggy Pop, the second vinyl single from bloody/bath is a new two track 7” ‘Burning / A Dream’. To the band's surprise, they ranked second in the final, achieving great media coverage, as well as financial aid that they invested in upgrading their equipment and the recording of a vinyl single, which would be distributed nationally. Gabrielle composed, wrote lyrics, sang, did interviews... and that's how she turned music into her life. The band recorded several demos that today are part of the treasure trove for the nostalgic Spanish Rock-lovers. After that, the band remained inactive... for almost 20 years! Until in 2010 Alfonso Samos, David Erick, Alex Morell and Gabrielle reappeared, to everyone's surprise, under the name of The Val and recorded, at last, their debut album 'Back'. And as Gabrielle says, “Good things sometimes come to those who wait... a long wait!” But the world had changed and borders had disappeared for music thanks to social networks and the countless possibilities they offered to go one step further; and that´s how an album that had been conceived to close a stage of the past became the key to open a new and fascinating future. The album was widely distributed and supported by important media such as Classic Rock Magazine and Fireworks Magazine, which made possible the recording of a second album, 'Heading for the Surface' (2015) and a third one, 'King Ocelot'(2020), all of them with extraordinary reviews from the specialised media. With The Val, Gabrielle gave major concerts, participated in festivals, toured England and had the opportunity to sing live alongside big names in international Rock such as David Saylor and Robert Tepper (Rockingham Fest, 2015) as well as with Spanish artists, such as Rafa Martín, José Carlos Molina and Miguel Oñate. 'Kiss in a Dragon Night', Gabrielle's first solo album, was conceived when Bruce Mee, editor of Fireworks Magazine, received the album 'Back' to write a review for the mag. Somehow the song, over time, led him to want to record a full album with this title, and together with producer Khalil Turk (Escape Music), he shaped the idea and created an album involving vocalists such as Steve Overland (FM/Lonerider/solo), Mick Devine (The Roads/Seven), Robin McAuley (Black Swan/Michael Schenker Band), Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen) and Terry Brock (Strangeways) as well as musicians such as Gary Pihl (Boston/Sammy Hagar), Eric Ragno (Joe Lynn Turner/Babys), Johan Kullberg (HammerFall) and Fredrik Folkare (Nordic Union/Unleashed). Shortly before starting to work on this album and also under the guidance of Bruce Mee and Khalil Turk, Gabrielle appeared on the Circle of Friends album ‘The Garden’ (Escape Music) with the solo track 'When He's Gone'.For Gabrielle, 'Kiss in a Dragon Night is a mind-blowing adventure, with fellow artists who have “given me more than I could have ever imagined and with songs that I have put all my soul and dedication into.” Already with the suggestive cover of the album, by Gaetano di Falco, a surprising journey begins, with songs by The Val transformed into duets, very powerful original songs by other writers, as well as versions of fascinating tracks such as Stayin' Alive (Magnum), and Moonlight Shadow (Mike Oldfield), the latter of which she had been wanting to record since she heard it for the first time years ago. All of Gabrielle's vocals have been recorded in Stockholm, at Fredrik Folkare's studio, who has done a great job recording the guitars and bass, and also mixing all the tracks on the album. In Gabrielle's words, "Working with Fredrik has been awesome and I can't think of a better place in the world than Stockholm to start a journey like this."

Track listing: Take on the World; When Midnight Comes (with Mark Boals); Moonlight Shadow; Kiss in a Dragon Night (with Robin McAuley); Pay For the Lonely Nights; Fight For Love (with Mick Devine); Candle in the Window; Stayin’ Alive (with Terry Brock); Fuel to the Fire; Natural High (with Steve Overland); Let’s Get Something Started; Hold On (with Mick Devine & Gary Pihl)

Format: CD
Catalogue No.: BAD230403
Barcode: 3341348053929
Release Date: 14 Apr 2023
Genre: Rock / Metal

Dirty Rhythm were an exceptional melodic hair metal band, with a sound at times similar to Skid Row and Cry Wolf. But like so many melodic glam bands of the early 90's, they faded not without trace. As the guitarist in Portland’s Dirty Rhythm, Brian Harrison was teetering on the edge of becoming a star in the early 90s. When he was twelve, Brian started a band called “Sweet Relish”. The band played at a cafeteria during lunch time they also recorded themselves on a cheap ass tape player with a built in mic. This was the time of Brian’s awakening to the dream. He loved rock and wanted to write music from the time that he made a sound come from a piano…that was when he was 7 years old. Getting signed in 1989 was a dream come true…the experiences he had during this short-lived record deal were about as close as he could get so far in my life. Brian Harrison worked with few bands before moving back to Portland: Sweet Relish, Roxx, The Wrath, Buzzmeg, Burn Again Mission, 2 Sides Of 1…After a year in recording school in Los Angeles, he responded to an ad for a band called Roulette…with this bringing him back into the Portland scene. Band members changed that suddenly put the band in a higher level of execution…Roulette disappeared, and Dirty Rhythm came out of it. When there was label interest there were a few more changes. The line up on the album out now is the pinnacle of what Dirty Rhythm became. The band consisted of Jeffrey Michael Bonds (vocals), Brian Harrison (guitar and keyboard), Anthony Brian Greenham (bass, who appeared as a guitarist on Annihilator's 1989 album Alice In Hell) and Samuel Zern (drums). The band’s debut album, Hard As A Rock, was produced by Loverboy guitarist Paul Dean in Burnaby, British Columbia. They hooked up with him through their record label. Just prior to the album release, Troy Miller replaced Zern. After the release, Dirty Rhythm went on tour across USA (Salt Lake City, Utah; Ogden, Utah; Boise, Idaho; Seattle, Washington; Vancouver, B.C., Canada; Eugene, Oregon; Roseburg, Oregon; Salem, Oregon.) They had bigger opportunities, but their label was not supportive at all. Disheartened by the change in the industry and the ineptness of their label, they just seemed to go off in their own direction. They have all remained great friends. N.B: This release has six tracks on it that were the original mixes before JRS label decided to remix for their own purposes. After meeting each other, “Jukebox Heroes” took the stage five weeks later to an oversold house at Starz on 100 in Milwaukee with a line out the door. The tour began, and soon “JBH” was in demand throughout the Midwestern US. The schedule had the group sharing the stage with the likes of 38 Special, Starship, Georgia Satellites, Styx, Robert Palmer, Kansas, REO, The Guess Who, Survivor, The Turtles, Marshall Tucker Band and ELO, some on multiple occasions. The group headlined a stage at Summerfest, the largest music festival in the US located in Milwaukee, on multiple occasions drawing thousands of fans. After the re-release of the much-acclaimed Czakan debut-album ´State of Confusion´ in February 2023, which was awarded record of the month in 'Metal Star' when it was released the first time back in 1989 and sold around 25,000 copies in Germany at the time, the new record and therefore the first new release of Czakan within more than thirty years, is imminent! On April 14th the follow up ‘Unreal’ will be in stores worldwide and feature 14 red hot new songs all composed by Czakan. And for sure - like it always has been - in the original Czakan line-up from 1989. “Unreal” was produced and recorded by guitar wizard Oliver ‚OG‘ Güttinger in the band owned Greenbox-Studios and mixed by keyboard player Tom Fein, who can look back at more than 20 years’ experience as a live sound engineer and technician for bands like ‘Die Toten Hosen’. He also did a great job for several years as first engineer at Horus Sound Studio Hanover for Guano Apes & The Donuts – the studio in which Czakan recorded their famous ‚State of Confusion‘ album back in 1989. Assistant engineer at the mix for ‘Unreal‘ at Greenbox was Oliver ‚OG‘ Güttinger. OG created the complete artwork for ‚Unreal‘ as well. Even with mastering, Czakan didn’t change the winning team from ‚State of Confusion‘ and used the help of Robin Schmidt with his 24-96 Mastering Studio in Karlsruhe again. Photo shoots for ‘Unreal‘ were done by Thomas Zigann for ‚Artist and People Photography‘ exclusively. Lorenza Maluku from Curacao did a great guest job with singing backing vocals on ‚Breaking all the Rules‘. With ‚Unreal‘ Czakan were holding all the keys. You can feel this strategy in each and every song. Starting with the rocking opener ‘Free Line‘ which will be the first single and video of the album – up to the final - the potential hit ‘Show me all your Love‘ - everything sounds as all of one piece. There will be several live shows throughout this year as well. Be sure not to miss them! Czakan are back, stronger and more creative than ever. A storm is brewing. The Charm of the Highway Strip was also the band's debut release on Merge Records. Continental uses their Quincy, MA hometown moniker to describe their unique blend of rock that draws influences from punk, country, folk, and blues. Known mostly for his time as founding guitarist and songwriter of The Dropkick Murphys, as well as co-founding member alongside his brother of legendary punks The Outlets, Boston based rocker Rick Barton has spent the last eight years fronting his current band and labor of love, Continental. Continental's sound is soulful Rock n Roll, plain and simple. While often compared to a variety of different bands, they like to summarize their style as "Paul Westerberg writing songs for The Rolling Stones," a compliment they received and have remembered for years. "I wear my heart on my sleeve and prefer to sing about what's inside, rather than fast cars and shaking booty" says Rick. Together with his son Stephen on bass, Andrew Dickson on drums, and various studio and touring guitar slingers, they have toured the US and Europe extensively as a headlining act, but also supporting bands such as Street Dogs, Reverend Horton Heat, Swingin' Utters, The Tossers, and The Business. Make no mistake, Continental is not a vanity project for Barton. When the band isn't on the road, the father and son team paint houses to support their "music addiction." With four releases to their credit thus far, the band hunkered down in Franklin TN with Andrew Dickson at the helm to put out their new album Hello. You can expect a raw but refined, clean but powerful, diverse and perfected version of the Rock n Roll that's come to be expected from Continental.

Tracks: 1 Hello 2 State O’ Maine 3 In The Kitchen 4 Best I Can 5 Hands Of Truth 6 Baby Baby 7 Man In Blue 8 Sally And Joe

Format: CD
Catalogue No.: RUM152CD
Barcode: 0732068320263
Release Date: 14 Apr 2023
Genre: Alternative

Los Angeles garage punk vigilantes The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs return with their first album of all original material in nearly 20 years, 'One More Drink'. Deluxe Edition with brand new bonus track and new package design!!Led by original Cheetahs Frank Meyer on lead vocals/guitar, Dino Everett on bass and Mike Sessa on drums, the modern lineup is augmented by Bruce Duff on guitar and Geoff Yeaton on sax. Paying homage to their roots, the self-produced album features guest turns from Dramarama frontman John Easdale, Adolescents founding guitarist Rikk Agnew and Screamers/45 Grave keyboardist Paul Roessler. One More Drink delivers a stunning mix of punk rock energy, power-pop hooks and chugging riffa-rama-lama. It refuses to bow to any one genre and that doesn't dissipate its impact. To be blunt, “comeback” albums are not supposed to sound this good. // "The world is a better place with bands like the Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs in it releasing records and making a worthwhile noise." Dom Daley //

1 Ain't It Summer 2 Fast, Fucked and Furious 3 Bad Vacation 4 We Are The Ones (We've Been Waiting For) 5 The Rejected 6 Rumblin' Train 7 Let Me Out 8 Scorpio Rising 9 One More Drink (ft.
