With their first release on Crisis, State of Mind pulls no punches when it comes to their brand of tech-funk. Flying out the gates is “Choose Your Own Mission” (with Trei), which is an awesome slab of high-paced intensity. The impassioned bassline is matched by a strong, crisp drumbeat. Accented by some off-kilter keys and random synths, this one is all energy and no nonsense. On the flip is “Virgin Dub”, a track which has been sought after for a bit now. More melodic and funky, this one starts out with a tighter drum track and sly key combo. It delves quickly into a neuro-funky hybrid, giving soul to a sound that sometimes sounds cold. With State of Mind dropping releases like this on Crisis, many more head should start to take notice to the 3rd label out of the Horizons Music Group stable
