Since its debut in 1979 at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall during the annual English Bach Festival, Musica Antiqua Köln, and importantly, their founder Reinhard Goebel, have played an unprecedented role in increasing awareness and knowledge of Baroque music. Goebel’s extensive discography for Archiv Produktion, which helped revive interest in the music of several previously under-performed German composers of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Johann David Heinichen, Schmelzer, Biber, and members of the Bach family is presented here in its entirety for the first time. This edition released to mark Reinhard Goebel’s 70th birthday this year shows Goebel as a violinist, conductor, music scholar and founder of his celebrated ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln.

- Goebel's celebrated Bach recordings (15 CDs), which have lost none of their freshness and originality, including probably the fastest Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and the first ensemble version of the Art of the Fugue on period instruments.

- Music by Telemann presenting a gallantry and rich palette of vivid colour and variety that Musica Antiqua Köln brought to light in an incomparable way.

- The Heinichen discoveries, which have received many awards, including the Jahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 1993, Gramophone Award 1993, Prix Caecilia 1993 or Echo-Klassik 1994.

- 208 pp booklet in German and English with an informative essay on the work of Reinhard Goebel and his Musica Antiqua Köln by Dr. Martin Elste as well as a new interview with Reinhard Goebel by Dr. Kai Luehrs-Kaiser, in which the artist looks back on his work in a cheerful, quick-witted, and laid-back manner; and many unpublished artist photos.
