Bylur – the acclaimed debut album by Icelandic pianist and post-classical composer Eydís Evensen, is now available on LP Vinyl for the first time since the album was released last year. Evensen is one of a select few artists signed to XXIM Records, Sony Music’s new imprint for innovative, post-genre instrumental music. This stunning double red vinyl, with printed inner sleeves, combines both the original Bylur album & the Bylur (Remixes) follow-up. Bylur is a deeply personal collection of songs that spanned twenty years of Evensen’s life. “It’s all my ups and downs,” she says, “& reflects my emotional journey.” The original album – the first disk in this release – features thirteen pieces written mainly for piano, with additional strings, brass & electronics on a number of tracks. Following the success of Bylur, Evensen took the next step in her artistic journey, giving seven of the tracks to friends & colleagues to be remixed, leaving her stories in their hands to see how they would change. She intentionally selected artists who’d take her fragile songs in a very different direction while staying true to her artistic and emotional energy. The remixes and reworks include collaborations with Italian composer and producer Ed Carlsen, Franco-American Uèle Lamore - one of contemporary music’s most exciting &composers, arrangers, producers, and conductors and Paddy Mulcahy - known for his diversity as an artist & acclaimed work in ambient & electronic music. Also featured are Slow Meadow, the solo musical project of Houston native Matt Kidd - who applies his mastery of atmospheric ambient chamber music to ‘Fyrir Mikael’, Faroese producer, songwriter, & electronic musician Janus Rasmussen - famed for his melodic brand of experimental electronic music, & American producer and multi-instrumentalist Kelly Winrich - who transforms ‘Midnight Moon’. Eydís Evensen has over a quarter of a million monthly listeners on Spotify, & was selected by The Line Of Best Fit as one of their ‘Artists On The Rise 2021’. Wonderland Magazine wrote that “Few artists are so effortlessly able to twist your heartstrings into a contortion of joy, sorrow and despair like Eydís Evensen”.
